Automatic shut down is a very disgusting experience. It could erase all your unsaved data, which could be very important. So in this article, methods are stated how to tackle this problem, if you have had one.
1) Overheating
Most of the computers are not designed to tackle high heat. So, the computer automatically shuts down if internal part(s) get heated. This mostly happens in summer season, when computer has overload, example continuously playing graphically intense games. The internal fan helps cooling, so if it is not working properly, it shall be fixed first. If a squealing like sound is generated from computer, it is a sign of fan malfunction. If the power supply is very hot, it should not be used for some time, hence cooled (don't add any external cooling, like ice). The internal parts must be cleaned, with a clean cloth. In case of laptop, the heat is removed from below side, so have the laptop on a high plank, with some air to be allowed to pass. Any hardware failure could cause overheating too. So it is recommended to consult an expert.
2)Computer Virus:
The computer could be infected with some virus too, which could be designed to shut down in some conditions. If your computer turns off at specific time after executing a specific program, it could be infected. For this, you need to update your virus scanner definitions up to date. In case you don't have one, it is recommended to download one.
3) Rare Cases:
If none of the above is the case, it is recommended to restart operating system and run CMOS setup, and let the computer be idle. If the computer does not turn off after staying idle in CMOS, the operating system installation might be corrupt. In that case, you need to re-install Windows.
So now you know what to do if your computer shuts down automatically, without any warning as such. Don't forget to check out our other blogs, and our Facebook page.
